The Ching Ming festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day in English.
In Taiwan, people will go their ancestors’ graves and pay their respects on the day.
People will clean up graves, burn ghost money and present food offerings.
This is the most famous poem about Ching Ming festival in Chinese culture.
「清明時節雨紛紛,路上行人欲斷魂。 借問酒家何處有? 牧童遙指杏花村。」 -杜牧《清明》
English translation:
During the Festival of Qing Ming drizzling is the rain.
Breaking are the hearts and souls of mourners on the roads, pedestrians in sorrow and pain.
Courteously inquiring where the nearest wine houses are located.
Only a herdsboy waving a finger pointing to a village - the Apricot Flowers Hamlet
-Du Mu's poem < Ching Ming >
Hope you have a great weekend!
